Just wondering do you have a data/speed cap on your internet?
If you do could you post the cap (eg 40GB a month) and also out of interest what happens if you pass it (I guess that's only for data).

Please, write clearly with proper structure. Double spacing makes the text feel un-jointed, Capitalizing Every Word Means People Stop Before Every Word Sub-Consciously Which Is A Pain In The Backside, and use code tags! (The right most styling box).

I've no clue, it's changed so much recently I am not sure.
From what I could gather on my ISP (Shaw communications in Canada), I've got a 140GB cap, with $2/GB for overages. I thought it was forty before, so this is news to me.

At the moment and for another 12 months I don't have any kind of data cap. After those 12 months they'll set up a 60GB cap but one can easily circumvent that by calling their tech service and saying that you got a better offer from a competitor. Instant unlimited data again :P

I actually cancelled my AT&T DSL service solely on the fact that they instituted a data cap. True, their data cap is higher than most (150 GB monthly), however, it is the principle of the matter that I oppose. Right now, I'm tethering through my Sprint phone, which slows down after I use 5 GB, but as far as I know, there is no actual data cap.

I don't have a cap. It is wireless (EVDO) service from the National Telecom provider. However, the speeds are not so great that you can think of huge numbers. I guess i can download a couple of Gigabits in a night.
In terms of price, the difference between capped (data / time etc) aren't significant enough to opt for those i.e. the limited data or timed once appear much too expensive. So it seems always better to get an unlimited one.

I'd double check the agreement :) You don't want to be one of those people who gets sued for $50k for tethering through your phone. lol

My ISP has recently offered a 50mbps plan but with a measly 50gb cap.
My current plan is a 10mbps plan with an unlimited bandwidth cap. Unfortunately, they're removing this plan but fortunately I'm grandfathered into the plan.

I don't have a cap on the amount of data I download. The bandwidth is maxed to 120 mbps. Gonna get fiber soon, though ;)

RHoch you lucky *******, I get 3-5MB/S with a 50GB cap and most people think my internet is pretty darn epic.
Interesting, I've always thought that only a few ISPs did speed caps and even less did unlimited...
Maybe its influenced by everyone here being a programmer? I mean programming rarely uses that much internet but most programmers like computers/internet and thus will use their connection for far more stuff (video, games, etc).
