Well its great to have you here. A tip of CodeCall, try to obtain the answers to your own question (its called Google) before asking others and don't be vague when asking a question. You'll find the people here are pretty **** skilled at computer science, among other things...

Welcome Vince, do you wish for recommendations for Linux distributions? I know quite a few off the top of my head of which are good choices for specific things, however Ubuntu seems to be the most popular choice due to ease of install and wide community support.
I would love to see you active on these forums, feel free to drop a message anywhere even if you are unsure what you want to learn.

Ya, you can shoot me for being gone FOREVER! But, IDK, I want to try to stay active & will try my best to. Anyways, an update of my life is I moved to try learning C++ & have a good resources that believe's I'm starting to learn my first programming language. C# was a little of a fail in itself.
Another life note is I'm still on Windows & yes, I would like to hear a recommendation for Linux dist. if you could still provide one.

Glad you can return, we are going no where be as sparse as you would like!
I personally have chosen Ubuntu for my home computers, and have replaced the silly Gnome/crazy netbook interface with XFCE. It is fairly easy to try other interfaces out.
There are others such as Arch Linux, however it sometimes lacks software packages and online resources. I'd try Ubuntu out as a first to compare with others later if you enjoy them, even if they all are somewhat similar. You'll be happy to know Flash, Java, Open or LibreOffice for MS Office compatibility, PDF, major browsers, Windows executable emulation (WINE), multimedia and all those goodies exist. You'll just have to look up guides on what packages to install as Ubuntu usually comes with no multimedia.

Ya, I have Ubuntu under a VMware OS & would <3 to get a new monitor so I could just run Windows & Linux side by side. I haven't really learned any C++ within the past weeks but will try to as I have donated some money to a friend's project to learn more.

"C++ How to program" by Deitel is a good start for C++, I've read 1/4 of the book and I'm very pleased. It's easy to read and pretty straight forward. It explains everything in an educational way.
And welcome ;) I'm new here myself.
