Hello dear programmers, at last my first 3d game is completed! :D
I made it all by myself...

Here is the synopsis:
Mutated Caterpillar Invading Villages, Destroying plants and Threatening human lifes, nobody knows where do they coming from and how do they mutated, people call these things “Ulat Bulu.” Will you be able to stop them? Engage in a decisive battle with Ulat Bulu on your Anti Ulat Bulu Machine (AUBM).

Single Player, Third person shooter with a unique storyline and sidequests. Engage many kinds of Ulat Bulu with AUBM energy weaponry.
Destroy them all and save the day!

PC requirements:
+ Ms Windows 32 bit (XP,Vista,7)
+ 512 minimum RAM
+ 3D enabled graphic hardware
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the link: Ulat Bulu Invasion

(Sorry, no screenshot... Can't take screenshot while playing, don't know why....)

Oh, almost forgot,
I made it with VB6 and DirectX7 (with Direct3DRetainedMode)
I know its ancient, but it's easy, and somewhat documented, so I use that....
C is not for me... (it's not that because I think it's too hard or complicated... i just doesn't have the Compiler... )

Please tell me what you think :)

I have moved this thread to member projects for better scope, could you provide some screenshots of your game? I always find those enticing!

I have to admit that screenshot really got me to download it, and what a neat introduction to the game!

Very unfortunate however, when playing the game I get this:
Attached File  30-05-2011 10-22-52 PM.jpg   77.68K   95 downloads

When doing a suggested fix for netbooks just in case with the resolution the D3D driver (D3DRM) seems to come up with a runtime error 455 - "Object doesn't support this action" even though it appears to be in correct format.

I am on a PC, Windows XP SP2 with a Nvidia 210 card currently with I believe latest video drivers.

Wikipedia appears to say this:

Quote

Only one game that sold a significant volume, Lego Island, was based on the Direct3D retained mode, so Microsoft did not update the retained mode after DirectX 3.0.
It may be best to look at how to port your game to a newer version, I believe every DirectX 7-8 game I've played works so now. It just appears retained mode is so old.

I will look much forward to playing your game however (maybe I could pull up and old VM)

Well, thanks :)

I decided to learn DX 8 for my next game, since it's faster and have higher compatibility.

Upon reading the thread, it appears the original author of the game has moved on to learning newer technologies due to the limitations of the older graphics engine. It may be unmaintained and thus not exist.
