I'm coming up to the end of my Java textbooks, last few chapters include Networking, Multi-threads  But this seems to be the extent of content in all books that I can find.
After completing the beginners textbooks what is the next step in learning Java?
Are there textbooks available that include more advanced topics (if so which ones are best) or do I switch to learning things like Grails, JSP or J2EE?
I say textbooks but this can include online tutorials/articles etc.

The ONLY way to learn programming is to program. Program, program and program some more.
If you need certain keyword, then start learning design patterns.

I would suggest try to write a complete piece of software which does something useful E.g. a Personal manager that stores items of your interest / use and sort them out on your desktop etc.
Unless you actually have a need and utilize concepts such as threads, networking, reading from book even if you understood it correctly is of little use.

It also depends on what you would like to do with java.
Me personally, I enjoyed data structures/discrete math for computer science(Still learning...).
