Hello Amr and welcome,

It really depends on the job market around you or wherever you wish to work, web programming can certainly be as rewarding as software programming even if it may pay less, although it really depends.

For demanded languages, Java or .NET related technologies (C# for example) seem to be high up there, and PHP or ASP.NET on the web site.

Welcome aboard!

You've asked a lot of questions that don't have "right" answers, and assume you won't change. I do both web programming and software programming. The logic tends to be the same, it just forces you to handle connections between the logic engine (server) and GUI (browser) differently between the two styles.

The most demanding programming will also depend on your skill set. I'm a mathematician, so doing statistical programming isn't very demanding, but GUI design can be challenging. Most programmers would find the reverse to be true.

The most profitable programming is generally dependent on the demands for software in your target market. Usually, it isn't doing a web app that five other companies have made a successful business around. Supporting businesses can be very profitable, but not very exciting.

Your starting language is going to have more to do with your target platform and whether you want to do web or application programming. I've seen people advise C, C++, C#, Java, PHP, and several other languages as starter languages, and I've seen all used successfully as starter languages.

You could certainly try each one out, ASP.NET (web) and C# (software) go very well together for example.

For my job, I program in Delphi, ColdFusion, Classic ASP (VBScript), using SQL on several different types of databases. We support service businesses, where they have an application for entering and validating data, and then a web portal for customers to review data.
