Moved to the correct forum.

So, what are you offering for this?

Here's the problem: you haven't really said what you want to do. I realize you may be afraid that if you give too many details, someone else will jump on it and steal your site away. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of social networking sites out there already that have had several years to get established. MySpace and Facebook are obviously the most generic site, but with LinkedIn, digg, etc, etc, etc, you come across as wanting to get a piece of a pie that's already been divided up. Unless you are proposing something that is truly unique, people aren't going to switch to your site.

In addition, most web programmers can create a site like this, it's the administration and attracting enough people to make it profitable that's the real headache. As a programmer (who is too busy to take on this project), I would want to know what you're offering. A lot of people want to offer a profit sharing deal, which sounds great when you're a startup with no cash, but doesn't sound great to the programmer who is guaranteed doing a lot of work, but not much reward. So, "what are you offering?" is a valid question, and generally is trying to find out if you have a business plan, or something serious to offer.

The point of this is: do you have something you can offer that will generate interest? There are plenty of people here who can do the work, but are you offering them a salary, or a solid enough plan for them to share your risk? The chance to make yet another social networking site smells like a recipe for wasting time, not making money.
