We had it up for a while, but lack of interest made it so CC didn't concentrate on nor actively maintain the IRC channel. I used to haunt it on occasion, and I can still go there pretty quick.
Wow I changed my sig!

I've added #codecall to my auto join list, so I should be in here quite often - although probably /away

I used to be on IRC a lot... now I occasionally join freenode for #JQuery. Freenode has a nice web based IRC client..
I agree.. it'd be cool if there was a CodeCall version that could be integrated.
FWIW, #codecall is empty now!

i think if there's an online client integrated in this site which automatically joins the #codecall channel then some people may go there

There's nobody anywhere on the IRC. IRC is dead.

I think the point here is that trends come and go. In the early days, IRC was revolutionary, and everybody flocked to it. Now, we've moved toward more convenient messaging systems--Facebook, SMS, etc. It's because of the integration of those services with our everyday lives that they survive. People want instant gratification, and SMS is built-in now to everybody's cell phone, plus Facebook chat is automatically bundled with almost every phone as well. IRC isn't automatically bundled with the most common communication platforms because it's not a money-making business like Facebook is. There's an incentive (money) for manufacturers to include Facebook compatibility with everything, which is why it is the dominate chat platform.

I think I'm turning into an old-fart, I still regularly use IRC.
Also, I don't own a smart phone.

It seems like this thread has been able to make some changes....i can see some peoples on #codecall.
BTW,IRC is good especially for sites like this, where we can get into massive group chats.....i have seen this type of channels on sites like Free Software and Source Code | Feed Your Brain | rohitab.com which has its own active IRC server with lots of nerds

That makes two of us. Although, I do plan on getting a smart phone the next time I upgrade.
