BBCode seems to be best suited for its namesake, bulletin boards. Other websites and comment boxes, HTML seems clean, in forums it seems like (even if it is not) a security risk in my opinion.

If a suggested code/method fails, informing us is less important than telling us why or what errors occurred.

You use HTML to build a website, you use BBcode to let users markup their posts in a forum, blog, etc. They have different purposes, and are not really interchangeable.
