hey everyone,

i just recently started learning and using HTML and PHP for web design and I would like to set up my own server for it.

Basically I have a laptop with Vista, A PC with Ubuntu 10.10, and a PC with CENT OS 5.5 on it. I would like to turn Cent OS into a server so that I can work on any of my computers (and remotely on my laptop) for web design and upload things to my server for testing and practice and what not.

Can someone help me with this? I'm not too network or server set up savvy
How many programmers does it take to fix a light bulb? ...None, its a hardware problem.

Well. I suggest you get yourself a hub or a wireless router ( for your laptop if you'd want to connect via Wi-Fi ). Connect all your machine on the router and i think you're good to go. good luck. tell me if something is up.

Hello you'd also need to install Apache, MySQL & PHP. There's a free package which includes all 3 called XAMP.

Isn't it LAMP, this should be easy. In my first Ubuntu experience I managed to set up remote access and centOS shouldn't be to different. Really a LAMP server will do you good, also VSFTPD server with virtual users that can access the htdocs directory.
Please, write clearly with proper structure. Double spacing makes the text feel un-jointed, Capitalizing Every Word Means People Stop Before Every Word Sub-Consciously Which Is A Pain In The Backside, and use code tags! (The right most styling box).
