I've no idea how to do this. I can't even judge the cost of new pcs.
How can I go about valuing a pre-owned pc before purchasing?
Here's the pc in question:

550Gb 7100rpm SATA HDD
nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512Mb to 1919Mb GPU

6 x USB 2.0 ports
1 x IEEE 1394 Livewire port
18-in-1 media card reader
No monitor

It's around 2years old but has only had 6months use according to the guy selling me it.
What you reckon this is worth?
I'm being offered what I thought was a great price for a pc at this spec but from the googling I've done it seems this pc is not worth nearly what it used to 2years ago.

I would appraise that build to be around $220, In todays market those pieces in full gross are below $300-$350, I would not accept the offer if unless it were at least below 80% of that because you can easily build something much bigger for $50 more.

I was being offered to buy it for £300 ($500). I'm really out of date with computer specs so I ignorantly though I was buying a high-end computer at a bargain price. I looked online and purchased new 2years ago it was £800 so I figured this was worth it.
It seems prices depreciate much faster than I thought. Thanks, I'm going to this this deal down and look elsewhere.
Thanks for the advise.

Moore's law and various things make that technology deprecated the second it is released, my computer from two years ago can be thwarted by something half the price today, old computers are simply not worth buying, they ARE expensive but they simply aren't as good as buying new.

Never buy an old PC, odds are you could pick up similar if not better parts for a faction of the cost, people try to get money back on their computers when selling but as Alexander said about Moore's law.. deprecation on technology is huge.
