Hey everyone!

I'm (very very very) new to programming, and I want to play around and make a program or two, just for fun.

I want to create an application that can compress, stream, and decompress video from one computer to another. not only that, I want it to be able to capture the screen of one computer, and send it to another.

yes, I believe the term for this is remote desktop. But I want to mess around with that kind of thing, what language would be the best? I'm guessing that the language would borrow some sort of MPG codec to compress the video and stuff, but I'm not sure how to go about all that.
