I'm just getting started in CSS trying to figure things out by building a practice-website.

The problem I am having is with the sidebar and the main content secitons of the CSS. I specified the width of the sidebar to 180px and specified it to float left... but something is wrong with it...It does begin on the left hand side but it pretty much ignores the 180px specification and continues to the right most part of the page.

I would like the content area to be directly adjacent to the sidebar, but because of the mentioned problem the browser places it below the sidebar section.

Help would be much appreciated.

Code would be nice. You may have had a typo, or setting the width to the wrong element, or another element is messing it up.
