Hi my first post in the PHP section and i am loving it. I want to get my into wordpress template development and seems PHP drives wordpress to the core. Hence i wanted a Few php book recommendations, Wordpress template books [ that worked out for you] .
My Background,
Pro Asp.net Developer, C#, VB.net , AJAX,JAvascript, CSS and XHTML. I know object oriented development, Code maintainability.
I am a total noob at PHP, just the echo statement ^^ . Members to suggest me books on PHP that would get me running within week or 2 [offcourse the database programming is a must]
thank you :c-smile:

If you know other programming languages, reading the php.net manual will suffice. To get started: PHP: Getting Started - Manual

I would run through the manual, it may only take a day but in the long run save hours of frustration when there is a specific piece of code that does not work. If you have gotten the basics down, Wordpress has a simple looking theme development guide that will show you the most essential PHP template codes (get_header() etc.)
Theme Development « WordPress Codex

As you can imagine it only requires limited pieces of code to theme.
