Whats a good text editor?

I recently got a new Mac.. my first and noticed they don't have a notepad++ version for macs. I was just wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for an editor supported by Mac OS X

I like Eclipse, but it depends on what you are doing.

Got the BBEdit demo for now.. appreciate the suggestion looks good.. I'll look into Eclipse

GVim is a graphical alternative to Vim which can be more friendly to newbies, of course you can use syntax highlighting with it as well.
