Hello!

My name is Jimmy and i recently got registered to CodeCall. Im curious about one type of program that i believe are used today by some webpages, example Prisjakt - Kunskap fre kp (swedish site), maybe its just one program used as a base and then modified for what to search for and update, have no idea!

Its a type of "scanning" program, like and search engine (google.com), but prolly more advanced. I want to use this program to type in an www adress, and then i want it to scan through this page, and what im looking for is information about articles, prices etc.

I would be greatfull if anyone here had any clue where i should turn, maybe there is a section on this forum where this post belong, or maybe you know exactly what im looking for!

Would love all the help i could get! Thanx!

Best regards, Jimmygg

Prisjakt isn't extracting the content from other websites. The companies who wants to be listed there contacts Prisjakt and supports them with a file with all their prices, this file is automatically updated by the company and therefore Prisjakt only reads that file. To make a program that fetches product information from all kind of websites is very difficult and maybe impossible because all websites looks differently.

bakhtn - No mate i havent, and doubt i will according to Vswe's answer!

Thank you for your answer Vswe, my first thought was why do the companies who clearly are more expensive then others give their "file" and information to for example prisjakt. But i guess if the sites turnes up at first searchprio at google and makes their self a name, they dont wanna miss out the shoot for some free marketing!

If you got the time to make me another answer Vswe (if you got the knowledge, dont doubt you have!), wich kind of coding do prisjakt use? Im a bit new to homepage/coding/database use so if you know what would be the optimal choice for a site like Prisjakt.nu, i would be very much thankful for an answer ! :)

If you look at their example http://www.prisjakt....fil_exempel.txt you can probably understand how easy it is for Prisjakt to just extract the information they need(they just split it up in different values and pick the values they need). All companies listed on Prisjakt just updates a file like that once in a while. I'm not really sure what you're suspecting my new answer to include
