Does anyone know about the new Radeon HD 6000 series? Right now I am currently running a XFX Radeon HD 5830 1gb ddr5. Would upgrading be wise? Or is the 6000 series basically the 5000 series processor tweaked?

I am planning on buying another graphics card soon to run a crossfire setup just wondering if I should go with the HD 5850, or the 6970. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Also if I run a crossfire setup will that bring my second graphics card offline? Like right now I'm running 3 23in monitors with a spare 19inch. So could I plug the 19inch into the second graphics card and run it? I know you can't with Nvidia SLI, just not sure about ATI.

For the first question, the 6970 is much faster than the 5850. As you probably know the first digit represents the series, the second represents the performance level, and the third also represents the performance level on a smaller scale. Therefore a 5970 is much faster than a 5850, and a 6970 would be assumed to be better than a 5970 making it the ideal choice of the two. As for whether or not you can plug a monitor into the second graphics card, I think you can with ATI eyefinity. Google eyefinity to make sure I'm not remembering it wrong
Yea Dat's right.

Thanks for your reply. I would assume the 6970 would be better no doubt then the 5850/5870. The reviews I read on the new 6000 series thought(and this was before the release of the card) is it is just a tweaked version of the 5000 series. So if that statment is true I would rather save money and just go with another 5000 serieis if they are bascially the same. But I havne't been able to find a comparsion of the 5000 vs 6000 series. So I was hoping someone knew anything.

Unfortunally I can't find any information about he second graphics card. I use eyeinfinity right now with my 3 monitor setup. Its really no big deal if I can't attach a 4th monitor if I plan to crossfire, would just be nice to have a monitor dedicated to a resource monitor instead of cluttering up anohter monitor. I guess when I get my next graphics card I can always try and if it doens't work the way I want just contiunue to use my 3 monitor setup.

Well since you plan on crossfire and not replacing the old card, getting a 5850 or 5870 would probably be fine. I hear that the newer series scales better in crossfire though, so that's another thing to look into

Thanks for all your information. I believe I am going to go with the new 6970 because it is the newest one lol, and hopefully will work well with my 5830 with a crossfire setup.
