Hi everyone! I'm Josh. I'm new to the programming world, and CodeCall seemed like a great place to get started. I'm somewhat of a nonprogrammer, though I do have a sufficent background in maths and natrual sciences, particuarly statistics in field biology. I've come here mainly to get my feet wet in some languages and see how I like it. I'm thinking of starting with Python or Java, since they both seem like good first languages (though I could be wrong on this.) On that note, if anyone could refer me to some good sites that teach these (preferably starting from the basics, or just an introduction to programming in general), that would be fantastic!
Sincerely,
-Josh

Hi Josh, welcome aboard!
I am not very familiar with both languages, but I am sure that soon someone will point you to the right direction. Perhaps you can start by browsing subforums under Phyton and Java categories?

Welcome Josh!
Python's official site has a great reference of tutorials for beginners or non-programmers, after learning the basics reading a good book about Python can be a great reference for future projects.

A free online book is here (I heard good things about it) How to Think Like a Computer Scientist (Python: Think like a Computer Scientist)
