I'm a 25 year old guy from south Georgia, USA. Always been interested in computers and video games, but have never delved into programming and honestly have little clue about it. I am here to learn, so any starter tips(or links to threads for such a beginner) would be greatly appreciated. I will likely be more of a lurker at first, but we'll see how that goes.

I have no idea if anybody actually reads these intro threads but i'll ask a question anyway....what programming language would be best for a beginner to start with?

Welcome to our forums!

You may wish to start off with a scripted programming language such as Python, it can run on any operating system:
Python For Beginners

You can also try a compiled language such as Java which is also easily portable across platforms.

There are also simple web languages such as PHP depending on what you are wanting to do.

What sort of programs do you want to build?
