I would like to make a website but only for business partners and I. All I really need for now is basically an online customer database with quite a few fields and authentication. Has to have a way to search through customers by name or phone number. I'm not sure the best way to go about this though. I have written basic database applications like this in Visual C++ and Visual Basic but it was a long time ago......... I haven't written any kind of online database apps though.
A login to access the form(that accesses the database) would be a must. Another really cool thing would be to give customers the ability to check the status of their repair by their phone number without logging in or anything like that but thats another story really. I just need an online database that my business parters and I could update and search for customers info.
I'm not really sure of the best way to go about this. After searching for awhile I ended up here. I would really appreciate some help! Thanks in advance!

Actually what you want is not that difficult. If you willing to try to learn classic ASP (with classic vb script), ASP.NET (with vb.NET), or php, I believe you can finish the basic version not more than 2 weeks. Of course more advance functionalities (and good look) require more times.
But if you want it real fast, you can try to use CMS (content management system) as the base for your site. By using chosen CMS' framework, you don't need to immediately care about the important "basics" (such as: good look, session management, user authentication, etc). There are lots of free web CMS, such as Joomla, Drupal, ModX, etc.
