My monitor shows green vertical lines on parts that are supposed to be black.
It isn't there always but it generally appears after the computer has been on for a while. Sometimes (quite infrequently) it goes away before switching off the computer. It returns pretty fast though.
Any idea what could be causing this ?

Is this a monitor problem ?

How old is the monitor? What kind of Monitor? HD? What kind of Video card are you running? Sounds like Dead Pixel Lines.
