God, the weirdest thing I ever thought of. Are there any grammar rules in 1337 or forum speak? Like, when you start a new sentence with a 1337 word, do you need a capital letter? for example lol -

lol it's so great!

Which one is correct? Or, if you end a sentence with a smiley, so you need to put a dot at the end? Does a smiley terminate a sentence?

I personally do not use LOL often. However, I think every letter is capital because it is an acronym.
Smilies can be put before of after the period, but you have to finish the sentence. If you have expression at the end of sentence, the smiley is before period. If you have expression from start of sentence, it is after dot. However, dot is needed :D.

I say LOL and lol are not the same, LOL is kinda big LOL when you laugh really hard and lol is when you laugh a little. XD
