Hello, You would need to download Visual Studio (express) or use mono to compile C# programs.

Since C# must run with .NET framework, the limitations are with .NET framework itself. Basically you can develop all applications that can run natively in Windows and in Web Servers (that supports .NET framework). Nearly unlimited (but still depends on the supporting environment) if I may add.

You can develop very interesting applications in C#, take mines for example:
