not much of a programmer, but looking to try some general purpose solutions... interested in working with microcontrollers and embedded structures (as you can guess by the username). don't know if 'object-oriented' or 'engineering' is in my future, but wouldn't turn my cheek to the opportunity.
anyway, don't mean to be too forward. don't know what the programming population is like here. if anyone would like to share some inspirational and thought provoking uses for architecture other than "calculators" or "remotes" or "coffee-machines" I would feel very welcome here... I'm really looking most for something to get my own thoughts brewing, before I head in the direction of any programming method, or picking at any coding language.
thanks,
Current Operator.

Welcome aboard Current Operator, I am not too sure on what to suggest for inspiration but what got you interested to work with embedded devices and hardware programming? I am sure there are quite a choosing of "fun" implementations of embedded devices such as new platforms, cellphone technology and other mobile devices. There are always companies hiring and opening up job opportunities for hardware programmers/engineers there.

I'm not currently considering freelancing. I have not finished college, so I should consider tutorials and books. Java could be the right place to start. You mentioned cellphones... autocontact, conflict control, system restoring go to my mind. Personally protected devices are probably a goal. I wouldn't say that, 'I've found my mentor...' Quite yet!
I suppose my challenge is not mastering my craft or typewriting out something, as it is witnessing someones successes. Where things went wrong, and where things went right.
