Hi there folks, I've been looking for a programming forum for a while now and I'm gonna give this one a try, it looks pretty darn good. I've just come from a rival forum, didn't really like it so I'm jumping ship.
Anyways my name is Adam, feel free to call me that, I'm 20, and I'm attending Queen's University in Belfast, studying Electrical and Electronic engineering. I'm in my second year of the course, but my main interest lies in software engineering. Ironically I had to do an Electrical engineering degree to realise I hate electrical theory and love computer programming but sure, that's life. Unfortunately my Uni didn't run Electronic and Software engineering for my year, but there's a few places who take EEE students as software engineers anyway - I'm searching for placements at the moment at places like Microsoft, so fingers crossed!
I started learning C last year, and advanced C this year. Now, my understanding of the language is still in it's infancy, but I'm learning every day. I've also started learning how to use Visual Studio 2010, and C# along with that. I've been finding it very easy to learn as a language, so I might start focusing on that as my main development language.
I play bass guitar in a local Christian acoustic/pop/funk/americana band (ironically it used to be an irish folk band... we still jig from time to time though!), I play guitar and piano as well. Really into DSLR Photography, music technology, and I used to be a bit of a film buff. I'm also addicted to music and spend a fair amount of time finding new things to listen to. My favourite bands include RHCP, Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder, Muse, Blur, Jamie Cullum, Jack Savoretti, Ben Harper, the Beatles, the list goes on. Pretty much I love music and I'll give anything a try. Really into Jazz at the moment, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Bob James particularly.
Hopefully I'll stick around this place, it seems pretty friendly. I used to be addicted to a forum years ago until it imploded, just haven't had the time or interest to commit to anything in quite a while. Hopefully I'll learn a lot here though!
Adam

Yeah it's too big for a real community IMO. I always liked smaller affairs haha.

This is a forum-only site, dreamincode has many non-forum elements and things that took awhile to build up which brought in more people. I hope we can somehow put tutorials in their own pages, rather than just be displayed in threads, to look more "official" rather than just a thread with a tutorial.
