I have great news(for me, at least) - odds are that I'm getting a laptop for Xmas! My mom didn't promise that, she said she'll think of it. I might be wrong, but it sounds pretty good. Finally I'm gonna get rid of my outdated PC to something new, breaking out of my box. Being able to install OSes and messing with my bootloader, w/o risking any important data. I can feel the freedom!
Since the day I heard it, I knew that it's my chance to leave Windows for good. I was thinking of Linux, and OpenSuSE was my best idea. Now, after scrolling over the Mac forums, it hit me - Hackintosh!

Quite a while ago(maybe a year? Not really sure), I crapped on my bootloader by installing Hackintosh. I didn't really know what I was doing but I surely was excited. Eventually, I got to the final stage when you're supposed to reboot your computer. I got an error, not sure which. And it doesn't really matter, as it got me in trouble with my dad - he talked with his geek friend, and he said that OS-X uses a different file system, etc, etc. Basically, he told me it won't work but I didn't listen. I ended up formatting my PC, and I discovered that I needed boot drivers for it to run properly. Bleh, I didn't want to start over again, so I left it.

Now, that I have nothing(but my pre-installed Win7, I guess) to loose, it's time to try again. Let me just bring up a simple (or not) question - Is it worth it? I'm gonna install OS-X, not sure which version, on an Asus Eee-PC. Will there be bugs? Problems? What do you think of the general idea?

PS. I know it's not completely legal, but bleh, I'm a cracker. Leave the legal issues.

The Asus EEE PC is very limited in hardware, if you expect to run the graphics under an emulated hardware abstraction (as OSX requires being run on Apple certified hardware) properly with a low end economy line graphics card you will expect lags.

Hmm... The one I'm hoping to get(Asus Eee PC 1015PED) has an IntelĀ® GMA 3150 graphics accelerator. There is a slightly more expensive model(Asus Eee PC 1201PN) which has a bigger screen and therefore is better for programming. It has a NVIDIA ION II (GeForce 9400). Are both not enough?

Those specifications should be sufficient to run a Mac OSX operating system, but the nature of porting it to a different platform can be unique for each case.

I had looked in a search engine porting Mac OSX to an EEEPC machine and I found it has been attempted before:
Load OSX 10.5 Leopard on the eeePC | UNEASYsilence

It looks plausable.

Good, thanks.
I guess that pretty much answers my question, for now. All that's left to do is to wait till my parent will decide if they want another laptop or not...
