How do I remove my name from appearing in the google search result page. When I click the link that contains my name, the page does not display my name, only my username (which is totally different from my name). So how come my name is appearing in the google page when it is not present in the link? I'm guessing at some point in the past, I was posting under my real name but its been a while (few months) since I changed it to my username.
What should I do ?

It could be a results of in-links that still have your real name.

Were you posting here or on another forum? There is not much you can do except kill all references to your name, and wait the standard time until Google finds it is gone and updates it respectively.

Certain forums force Google bot to crawl through an archive version of the forum's threads, this means the lingering reference to your name may be there instead that does not change. It could be a number of reasons, and could take months to update, if indeed absolutely all references are killed.
