I'm not referring to suggestions that display once you start typing, after you google something once, and change the search query on the results page, its all AJAX... Did I just realize this now, or is this new?

It's google's "automatic search". Yet another new feature from them I turned off as I saw it.

I don't like it and find it annoying. Usually it starts loading immediately even though I'm no where near done typing my query, and by the time I get done typing my query it tells me I have to hit enter to finish my search.

I didn't realize you could t urn this off NW... I'll go find the labs now.

Just when you search at the top "Settings"->"Search Settings" I found it rather quickly. I'm sure if you don't have a google account you may need to keep switching it every time your IP changes.

It's cookie based.
