If there's one thing that really pissed me off with the new ubuntu, it was the window controls that moved to the mac side of the window panel. Extremely annoying. However, changing it is as easy as click, click, paste!

Step 1 :
Press the 'Alt' and 'F2' button -> This will bring up the "Run Application" dialog box. Type "gconf-editor" in the text field and hit enter

Step 2:
Click on the + button next to the “apps” folder, then beside “metacity” in the list of folders expanded for apps, and then click on the “general” folder.

Step 3:
The button layout can be changed by changing the “button_layout” key. Double-click button_layout to edit it.

Change the text in the Value text field to:

menu:minimize,maximize,close

Done! Enjoy having your controls on the correct side again ;)

This is a good tutorial, I always hated them on the wrong side. Glad I don't use gnome.
Be sure to read the updated FAQ! || Health is achieved through the same 10,000 steps.
If a suggested code/method fails, informing us is less important than telling us why or what errors occurred.

What exactly makes Window controls on the top left side, the wrong side? Would that be more wrong than say, the bottom right?, or botton left?
