This is probably gonna sound really really silly, but I cant get the copy and paste to work on Photoshop. I have one button and I want to have a row of 5 of them in a line

When i paste it, no matter what i select it only pastes the text and not the image, im like wtf.

And pasting more than once just leads to it pasting over itself, not after itself.

The easiest way to duplicate a layer is to just hightlight the layer in the layers palette and hit ctrl+j. If it isn't stroked or filled then all you have is an empty space which won't work when you copy

Ctrl+j doesnt do anything for me, it doesnt copy anything so i cant paste it into the row i'm looking for

Did you try duplicate via the meny?

Layer -> New -> Layer via Copy

ctrl+j doesn't copy it duplicates the layer that you have highlighted

My ''New'' is greyed out!! i pick the rectangular marquee tool, select this button, that is if thats how i should do it, and yet my ''new'' is greyed out!

If i may add another totally noob question epic fail before i go to bed, why can i only type light blue text into my poor little button? As God be my witness, im following the instructions found here:

How to Change Text Color in Adobe Photoshop | eHow.com

And the only rectngular thing with color i can find at the top, i change its colour but it just wont change the colour of my text, which is light blue upon a blue background lol!! Help very much appreciated.

Sorry, have no idea what this could be. But just for safety check what mode you are in, I know Multichannel mode makes the "new" greyed out.

thanks but no luck, i am or i was on index color...

Edit: ur right, RGB color solves that particular issue.

Apparently my problem now is the color of the text and that it only duplicates upon itself.

For this is there a cursor like there is with text where i can paste what I've duplicated in the space of my choice?
When i duplicate it just pastes into the centre where i got it from!

after it does that you go to the top of your toolbar and click the arrow. after that you can just drag it where you want it
