Hi All,

For my FYP I am investigating web-based IDEs. As part of the feasibility study, and primary research, I would like to get your views on what you think about programming online, and if you have ever used it, what was your experience.

Please click here for the survey!

This is a very short survey and your help will be extremely appreciated.

For those interested in the outcome, the result will be posted here.

Thanks
Serena

PS: The university will have access to the result of this survey, so I would appreciate it if you refrain from using "inappropriate" terms

I'm not clear on how this would be helpful for projects that aren't web-based. It would have to be mighty interesting to get me to look at it.
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

Could probably sandbox it in a VM on the server, though I'd strongly suggest charging a subscription for that.

Do you have to make your own online IDE, or are you "just" investigating?

I will need to create one. Obviously it will not be top of the range, and I would not dare compare it to Eclipse and the likes. I have only got a couple of months to do it, on top of other modules so it will be pretty basic to start with. The reasons why I want feedbacks is because I spoke to loads of programmers at my workplace who have different opinions about the idea of compiling and running code online. Some says it's an horrible ideas, other, especially those who works on various client side believe that it is helpful for quickly testing codes or algorithms.
