Hey. I am 21 male and from Toronto. Although I really enjoyed and excelled at programing in high school (and even wanted to pursue it as a career) I always put procrastinating first. Every day that passes is one less day I can do what I really want.
However I am having a crap ton of trouble figuring it all out after so long of not doing anything. I do not know whats what anymore or what languages are out there. I am far behind on what new software adobe has and what new advances there are in programing technology.
Basically what I am trying to accomplish is learning how to make websites and video games/applications. (Video games/applications being what I am most interested in)
I am unsure of what language to study or what programs to use. I was planing on using DW for making websites but I also want to learn how to program HTML and XHTML. I am also going to use both collage and the www lynda com site in order to progress my knowledge of the subject at hand.
I was going to go to collage this year but unfortunately didn't pass the essay part. (Unsure how writing essays effect programing but w/e)
I have mostly used turing for programing. Yes its basic. I have also meddled in flash and basic to moderate HTML. I like to think I understand and learn the subject fast but it has been years since I was involved with any type of programing and I remember very little.
Any Idea which language is best for me? Or weather the adobe programs are suited to my needs?
Aswell as weather anyone here has used lynda or know of other sites like that which are better?
Thanks for your help :)
Hey. New to programing

Welcome aboard!
You could start with HTML 4 or 5 (which is basically the same as XHTML). w3schools.com has great tutorials.

As far as game programming for online games I would check actionscript (2 and 3) out along with JavaScript. Once you have a decent grasp on one or two of those languages you could develop games and release them at a website called Kongregate.com. If your game is good, maybe you'll make some money ;)
