IT WOULD BE AMAZING if someone were to come out with a program similar to "Type to Learn" (which is a program used to teach how to type/key (similar to MicroType and some others)

BUT THE PROGRAM TAUGHT YOU HOW TO PROGRAM!!!

That would be so cool
-feel free to add thoughts
-or even tell me of such a program (beware)
-I just might fall in love with you

There is a huge difference between learning to type (primarily muscle memory), and learning to program (primarily problem solving).

Think of it like this, suppose you saw a bunch of football players charging the tackle dummies in practice, and asked someone to find a way to make that action, or one similar, effectively teach you proofs in geometry. How would you react?
Programming is a branch of mathematics.

WingedPanther is right: Programming is more complex than just typing some letters. You don't learn math by writing some numbers either. ;)

Sometimes words ain't enough to express something. That's why computer scientists use double words.

you could go through a load of tutorials, with maybe a mini quiz at the end of each chapter. No substitute for a real teacher, but better than nothing.

The ONLY way to learn programming is to program.
