Ok, mostly posting this just to find out if it's just me who is bothered by some widely spread dumb phrases, but also to hear what other phrases people find annoying.

So I'll start off with to that I'm annoyed with most of all:

First one is: "It's always in the last place you look."
COME ON! Everything is in the last place you look because you have to be really dumb if you look for something, you find it, and then you keep looking for it. If you meen that it's always in the place you look last of all other places then say that, might take you a while longer to say but at least it won't sound as stupid.

Second one: "Exception that proves the rule."
Ok it's not the phrase itself but the use of it. The origin of it is uncertain, but my best guess that it has come from mathematicians when they come up with some sort of rule, and then come up with the exception to prove it, and if exception fails than the rule is true, but if the exception works then the rule has to be a wrong one... originally it might even has been "Exception that tries the rule" but some people didn't appearently know that and started to use it when they theory in something fail and they have to justify it somehow. I don't know that kind of bugs me a little :)

so thoughts, other annoying phrases?
