Okay i currently have: Windows Vista home basic (SP1 if that matters) 32 bit.
I can freely download 1 of the following:

(I allready checked at the control panel to see if the cpu is 64bit capable and it is.)

I'm currently downloading Windows 7 Professional (x64) - DVD (English) from the list. Will i need to burn that on a DVD to install?

Will it do a format of my whole hard drive? Or do i manually have to uninstall vista (or should i leave vista on it for a while)

I got several partitions. Can i install the 7 at the same as the one where vista is installed on?

Edit: download completed, it's an ISO. I assume i got to burn it onto a DVD and not put it into daemon and run it? :p

You will need to burn it to boot from it.

Isn't that a priated copy of Windows 7??? AFAIK Microsoft does not "give" their operating systems away, except to maybe someone who bought the previous version just a few days before a new version is released.

Oh that's different. Microsoft often gives software to students and universities for little or nothing. That way students will get hooked on their products and want to use it in the work force after graduation.
