My parents have a wired internet connection, when I plug it in to my computer it says that it's connected with 100mbps. It will send packets but it will not recive them. I know that it's compatible because it says on one part that it's digitaly signed by Microsoft Hardware Complatibility List or something similar.
Why can't I connect?
Also, I'm on a horrible 2005(I think) Toshiba Satelite with XP (sp #2).
Wired local area internet connection sending packets, but not reciving them?

I'm not quite sure what you're wishing to do, more information would help:
If you're wishing for internet: Only one computer can be leased to the internet at one time, get a router and lease each computer.
If you're wishing for LAN: Once plugged directly into (or shared via router) you must run the Windows home network setup on BOTH computers.

I agree with null, more information would be good. I think the problem is that you haven't set up the network after plugging your wire in. Once you have it plugged into both computers, go to Start, Control Panel, ( the next part is based on Category View ) Network and Internet Connections, Setup or Change your Home or Small Office Network. Follow the prompts to set it up. Make sure to do this with both computers. Also, ensure that both computers are running XP. If not, tell us so we can better understand the situation.
