Yes -- you eventually need to know everything. IMO the best way to learn c++ is to BUY an Introduction to C++ book.

You should know, that there is almost no technical reason to start any new project in C++.

Yes, there are free ebooks. Thinking in C++ is the obvious one, but there are many others.

I'd say the best book that has the best explanations and examples with shown output is:
Starting out with C++ (From Control Structures through objects) 6th edition by TONY GADDIS

Good luck!

At least I know how to read and comprehend what I read, which is apparently more than you can do. The very first link was for FREE ebooks.

it is important to know, that this language is as low level as you want it to be, but I have to warn you, this is a thousand times more complicated than visual basic, but it also has a thousand times more features, (the biggest one just makes the code faster than it needs to be on a modern computer)
