Hello everyone,
I have a very good friend who owns an i-am-my-own-boss-and-only-employee firm in electronics. He told me he needed a small app to keep track of all the products in his shop, like electronics gear (they all have weird names like FJKC-500-XSL), so i made him a small app for this, in C#, using XML as database (i am but a beginner in programming, first year student at Computer Science & IT).
I worked about 12+ hours in total for this, he likes the product, and he wants to pay me.
How much should i ask for this app? (Count the fact that i am from Romania, where the minimum wage is for the moment at about 225 $, so try to scale it accordingly) . Thanks !
here is the app:

Given that you did this as a favor, I would probably go low and use this as part of your resume when looking for a job. Figure [min_wage]*12*(1.5 to 3 at your discretion). Of course, you could go lower, since this wasn't contract work. If you had fun, view it as a learning experience, etc, you could go as low as [min_wage]*12*.75

I don't seem to understand, min_wage is 225 here, 225 * 12* 0.75 = a lot, what did you mean? (umm i'm not sure i was explicit enough, by minimum wage i understand payment / month of work. )

Now i get it !
Minimum wage / hour = Minimum month wage / 170.

Correct, in the US minimum wage is based on hours, not months.

If he is actually your friend ask nothing but a good reference for the project. Just put it on a resume and give his phone if they want to find out more about the project. Tell him to say something like: "the programmer respected the deadline while providing a quality product which is helping me everyday to organize the products in my store/website"

I agree with NastyDevil, but if your friend forces you, then accept min wage.

Edit: Oops, I didn't notice that this was an old thread. Sorry for bump.
