Hi, this is my first post :)

I am not a programmer. I need to slightly modify a PHP script and insert some Chinese and Thai characters. Which software should I use?

I searched under Google but could not find an answer. I tried 2 software (EditPad Plus and Programmer Text Editor). The characters either showed up as ????? in the first software or as weird characters in the second software.

I would really appreciate if someone can tell if any free (since only need minor modification) software that I can use.
