Okay, im from a forum ath this site:

The Glest Forums :)

The history of the game is long, but i`ll make it short. Some spanish folks were making a startegy game, they got very far and made a playable decent game, then they abandoned development. Not long after some coders started to develop a more advanced version of the game, they called it GlestAdvancedEngine. The GAE mainly focused on hard coding as water travel, pet ability etc. And another coder thought that he might make another version, his version became MegaGlest, and MG became very popular among the community that only played the game, modders still prefered old GAE. Though GAE didn`t support more than 4 players. So the community got divided, then one of the community members began to see if the to could merge into MegaGAE. This went under disguission, and for a loong time it was uncertain what would happen. The MegaGlest team was "just" doing softcoding, many proposed that the MegaGlest could merge into the GAE, nothing happened and still there is diguission about that.

Not long ago some of the community (including me) Wondered if the game would have basic shader support ever, actually, i wondered if the game could take advantage of GLSL, but one of the coders making GAE said that he was praying each night for basic shader support, then another of the community, a modder, said that he could try to find some Graphics Coders to code a graphics for us, and that is what i did too! ^^

So basically what we in the GLEST community is looking for is a graphics coder willing to dedicate some work into our project, if you find this interesting check out the link i posted up in the thread. We have many skilled coders, but still, the graphics are coming bad.

The game uses c++ for hardcoding and LUA for something else, seriously don`t ask me, im a noob within the subject. (BTW the AI needs some fix too, overall good, but i could be better)

oh! i almost forgot that some of the community uses Linux, free open source ftw! :pinguin::pinguin:
So some cross-platform would be nice, but windows first, i think everyone on the GLEST forum has the ability to use a windows computer. And the game is Free Open Source, if anyone willing to help just visit the link thanks :thumbup1::thumbup:

Glest is open-sourced. As I recall it's on sourceforge.

Right now, I don't have the skill set + time to do that.
