I am planning to buy a new notebook for my programming.

What languages? I'm very fond of my Dell Vostro V13 with Ubuntu preloaded, but I can see where that would cause you issues in .NET programming.
One of the nice things about programming is that it tends to be less resource intensive than most video games. Unless you're going to do testing with 20 GB databases in your testing, you don't need massive resources.
