I am doing a project over Java Applets, but can't seem to find any information regard their history or origins. I was just wondering if anyone could help?

They were one of the driving reasons for Java becoming popular. They're simply one way to run Java apps.

So the whole concept of Java was made around the concept of Applets?

No, but Java grew dramatically in popularity because it could be easily retooled to function as Applets. Java was originally designed for embedded systems (like microwaves).
