Hello, are here any new Java programmers?

I'm interested in beginners because i am also a 'fresh-Java-leaner', so i was wondering if someone would want to work on a project of some kind, or something.
Basicly I'm searching for a 'Java-learning-(mate/team)' :D

Well, currently I don't have much in mind. I'd like to work with someone on a project, or something. So, if anyone have ideas, you're welcome.

we should make a black jack program. We can break it up into 4 classes. A main display, An Abstract class called "Game", A player and a Dealer class. I am not to good at GUI so if someone wants to help me with it that would be cool

(Player and Dealer would be children of Game)

I would not mind a reason to learn more about gui's. I would be down for that but we would have to figure out who is in and set a date for it to be done for.

We would likely need some sort of card class or deck class too. I'd like to get in on this too although I am not a complete beginner but still consider myself very uneducated in java especially when it comes to working with a team.

Im not sure making a black jack game will be large enough to keep a couple people busy long enough to learn very much from this. We might make the basics for multiple card games or something like that for example if we make card and deck classes it would not be a whole lot more effort to make something like solitaire or even better, poker. Of course poker would be more work to set up the money systems and card combination priorities.

poker would be cool. I think it would be neat to make it so that multiple people may play, not simply against an AI.

Ya it would be cool if we could set up like a chat/poker server thing in java so we could all play each other when we finish. That might be beyond a beginners program but would still be fun to try, I mean we got this amazing community to help us along the hard parts!

Any project is sounds good to me. Someone needs to be the coordinator. tate since you seem to be the most experience you should organize a group of people to work on it. PM me any details about the project.

Well this whole thing started based on ksemeks idea to get some people together to work on a project together so I will let him/her be the decision maker here since that only seems fair. Otherwise ya I would love to try and organize this thing.
