Hello everyone!
I am familiar with a few languages (VB strongest, Java and C ++ somewhat) and can learn something new if necessary. I realize this might include the addition of something like SQL since a database may be required. I want to make sure I start off on the right foot with what language will work best for my needs. Here is the specifications I currently have chosen for this project:
Database of math and/or science questions:
Input of questions should be easy for things such as subscript, superscript, and other math/science needs.
*random tests can be put together from questions in this database and show one question at a time on the screen for this test.
*NO input will be given from the user in the way of typing in an answer, they will simply say "I got this right" or "I did not"
*questions will not be asked again if user got them correct, perhaps for a programmable period of time, such as that with the Leitner Flashcard method, to aid in longterm memory development.
The primary concern is making the adding of questions very user friendly. Secondary concern is being able to manipulate various ways that questions are pulled. Tertiary concern is being able to repeat correctly answered questions after a given amount of time, as well as continue to throw in incorrectly answered questions into tests until they are answered correctly. This program will be used more for studying, grinding out questions but also for aiding in helping someone get acclimated to random questions from different units, as would be the case in a cumulative testing environment.
Can Visual Basic (with or without .Net) work? If so, what database is a good one to use that would also be a good one for learning a database for the first time? If not, what are your thoughts?
Thank you in advance for your time and opinions!
Molly =)
