I got an unpaid job! I was asked to make a website for a decoration buissness. I have been thinking of ideas and I haven't got much. I know how to make a php script where users can sign up for a weekly newsletter, I'm going to add that. Anyone have any tips or advice?
Just so you know I know html, css, javascript, php, and sql(kind-of)
Oh, it's unpaid becuase I'm 12.
I got my first website design job, any tips?

I havent done anything with the actual website yet.
What I have done though is think of what I can do while I wait for her to tell me what she wants.
As for what I'v thought of is:
A simple php script where users may signup for an email newsletter.
2 Since it is a decoration business make the bgcolor a tan-ish with a floral theme to it.
3 Make another php script that lets her have almost like a blog, where she can post updates,news,etc...
4 Create an online catalog
Thats just about what I have so far, if she would give me details on what she wants I would have more.
Thanks for help.

i think joomla can do all of that without any coding involved.
but if you want to have fun with coding this project i suggest that you start by making an ERD (list of tables and relationships between them) and write down the logic and different scenarios of the website and tell the client about it so you dont do something they dont want and make sure everything is on the right track.
after that you can start coding and how you do the coding is totally up to you :amr:
i hope i was helpful

yo homie i heard you like one-line codes so i put a one line code that evals a decrypted one line code that prints "i love one line codes"
eval(base64_decode("cHJpbnQgJ2kgbG92ZSBvbmUtbGluZSBjb2Rlcyc7"));

Nice info :)
I agree with you 100%.. joomla is extremely easy to work with and modify if you need. Just make sure that if you start the PHP project from scratch, you know what the plans are before you even start, or it will be a never ending story!

all the best man :thumbup1:, the success to making a wonderful site is to work closely with the client [ask him what he wants in sidebar, tell him that png images are good even when resized, ask him the layout of the site ]
but my tip to any web desiger [secret],
take a Pencil & a paper start designing your site there in the paper.
Then think about making a mock-up with Photoshop , Gimp , Paint.net. [ show the mockup to your client .Tell him why you did certain things the way it appears].
Now start laying out the logic for your DataBase tables & ask the client why they need a e-mail field ,what they intend to do with it..etc
for some cool webpage designs see the link below
