you know what Jaan thats the same state i am In , the new version Sucks like a Lot . It takes 15 sec to launch and takes almost a Giga byte of Ram .Also there are lot of reports on their feedback see them .people are more pissed off with it ..

I just downloaded Firefox 3.6 yesterday and it is working fine, you probably have too many plugins.

Go to your favorites and delete all the links you don't need, delete history,temporary files,cookies etc..., Make your homepage a smaller site.

Have you taken a look at your Anti-Virus/Firewall package? It can cause issies if not configured correctly OR if it itself is too thorough in its live search of the traffic that it would slow it down. As for startup, you are runnign some resource hungry Extensions. You should get rid of the ones that are not of too great a use, otherwise, ifthey are all needed just try enabling them and disabling them so they don't load until you are going to need them. This will help withload times and some of the lag issues.

Agreed that the new version is a little laggy at times, but I hardly notice it. I have 1.5 Gb of RAM. AFTER 8 hours it's normally up to about 600 Mb of RAM due to the size of the cache. So when it gets that high, I often just enpty the RAM with CacheMan. Speeds the PC right up again. (IF running slowish)

Firefox is oft' misused from what it was designed to perform like. A high-lifespan cache base with addons left and right will do wonders for performance, including the "basic" and often automatically included addons such as the Winamp/vlc/shockwave/divX. If you enjoy the open framework that is XUL then there's no need to whine that it's slow if you're stressing it.
