Hi
I am after something that will allow me to block adult websites when my kids are using a shared laptop, so this needs to be set by user. Also would prefer some reporting element so that I can then check back on what they have been up to.
Have used Family Cyber Alert for the reporting side of things but this does not have intelligent filtering like NetNanny so each site has to be added individually.
Not worried about paying (not silly money though) as these seem to be the best at what they do.
Will be on a laptop running XP SP3

hello,
This is the easiest way that I can think of...
Step 1: Click the Start button and select Run. Now type the following text in that Run box:
notepad c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Step 2: You will see a new notepad window on your screen containing some cryptic information. Don’t panic. Just goto the last line of the file, hit the enter key and type the following:
127.0.0.1 orkut.com
127.0.0.1 facebook.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
Save the file and exit. That’s it. None of the above sites will now open on your computer.
Hope this helps... Also in a really extreme case, you can use a keylogger to see what they get up to without supervision...
:P

Many commercial antivirus programs include in their engine with parental control and web guard to block any unwanted sites.
I don't know this is as powerful as porn filter or not, but i think this is also can help you to block adult sites for your kids.
Good luck.

This is very easy, just put the words such as "porn", "girls", etc, and the software automatically close the browser...

If you are using windows + internetexplorer, you can block pornsites somewhere from the settingsmenu.
I believe that this will also block pornsites in firefox (in version 3 or higher).

This I think is more powerful than NetNanny..HomeGuard activity monitor. This has the user specific porn filtering/monitoring and advanced reporting you want and also keystroke logger, screenshots capture..etc etc.
you can download it here:
HomeGuard Activity Monitor - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
and more info here:
homeguard
