Hi there, this is my first post so try not to destroy me for it. I program in C++ mainly and will be doing some C# later.

My question is about sound engines and file keeping. Do computer games use realtime synthesis or lots of audio files? or a mix? how does it work?

It depends on the game, the sounds, etc. I suspect many of them simply use audio files.

Try "sdl mixer".

I used it in a "Wetspot 2" game, that I converted to freebasic.
