Greetings...
I'm 17 - in my third year of high school - and I enjoy programming as a hobby. I started out in 7th grade, learning html for a school project. I soon after started dabbling in javascript, and making web pages. That was fun, but I've forgotten most of the specifics now. A couple summers ago, I tried to teach myself java, but didn't get too far. I did manage to make some basic programs, but in hindsight was probably too busy playing video games to really learn much. Last year was when I really started to discover how much I enjoyed programming, when I took about four 1.5 hour classes in python. I haven't programmed in it much recently, but I really like that language. This last semester I managed to take a free class - introduction to programming in visual basic - at a community college instead of taking a regular high school class. Overall, I thought it was way too easy, and spent way too much time on arbitrary IDE and design related subjects, which have little to do with real programming. I don't think we even did any coding for the first 3 or 4 weeks. It's amazing how one can learn more in 4 short classes than in an entire semester. Still way better than a "regular" class in my opinion however. Despite these shortcomings, I actually don't dislike VB.NET as a language, I actually think being able to play with the .NET framework is quite fun, and I've been programming in it a lot recently.
Anyway, there's my little introduction, I look forward to lurking around here. (Or perhaps even occasionally posting)
Greetings

Welcome to CodeCall.

Welcome aboard!
One thing to remember about community college classes is that many people in them have little to no talent for programming. The result is the first class or two goes VERY slow. Stick it out and you'll do great :)
