The search filter did not yield what I was looking for, so I am posting here hoping this is the right thread.

I am looking for some free software that I can easily implement on an existing website for an auction. This would be a simple auction with no online exchange of money via e-commerce. Auction items will simply have the highest bid name listed, and auction winners will be paying for their item via check at an upcoming event.

Any recommendations?

I don't know of any existing software, but I know this would require a DB and some sort of user control login functionality—something that allows for a logged in user to enter a valued bid on a listed item. The user entering the highest number displays on the page? Someone around here might be able to point me in a better direction.

I'll keep checking back. Hoping to find something extremely easy to setup and use. This is for a no-budget, non-profit client with a great cause, whom we have worked with over the years.

NOTE: Since there is no actual exchange of money on the site, I am hoping that I can find this free or very cheap online somewhere. I found this so far --
Ajax PHP Penny Auction
-- but I'm not convinced yet.

The only auction script that I have worked with personally is phpprobid its not free, costs about $180 USD but is a well rounded script.

If you really want something in the open source area then google is your best bet, just search for open source auction script or simply look for e-bay clones.
