I'm taking a poll to see how many languages most programmers end up learning and what languages are the most useful or popular. I've seen people talk about Javascript, C, PHP, Visual Basic, SQL, Java, and Python a lot.

PHP, Perl, JavaScript, Visual Basic, C#, and C++
Of those, I have a certification in PHP (Zend) and Visual Basic (not by choice). I haven't used C++ in years to make anything but I *might* still be able to fumble my way through it. I also know a bit of Java.

I can write XML, HTML, CSS and know SQL although I don't consider the former three languages. I've also done several ASP.NET projects but don't use it regularly or claim it. :)

To various degrees: C, C++, Java, Delphi, ASP, ColdFusion, HTML, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, Haskell, Lisp, VBScript, and probably a couple others. C++, Delphi, and web stuff are probably my strongest, with Haskell and Lisp my weakest (just learning them).

I use: PHP, MySQL, Javascript, ASP.net, C#, XHTML, CSS, AS3, and XML

I'm decent at some of those and a novice at others.

You have to remember, I've been doing this for longer than some of our forum members have been alive.

So it looks like the strongest languages are:
PHP: 6 votes
SQL: 6 votes
Javascript: 5 votes
C++: 5 votes
C#: 4 votes

C, Java, and ASP.NET seem to be pretty popular as well.

That beats my repertoire of XHTML, CSS, Javascript, MySQL, Shell, and sed.
